WINDY HOPEDALE REPORT.....

I had the pleasure of fishing with my hunting buddy and good friend from Paducah Kentucky, Bob Escue, and his step son, James. The odds were stacked against us weather wise as the winds were kickin' like a chicken and rain was on the horizon. But we did have one factor in our favor, that was a plus, and that was high water. I told Bob like it was, that it could be a tough go round looking for trout and that I was certain the redfish would be eating up!

It didn't take much convincing and we were off to a pond that is slap loaded with redfish. After a couple of casting lessons, the Bob and James got it under control and then the fish took over and it was ON! Just about every single cast was a redfish, and if not it was another suprise like a trout, flounder, or drum.

It didn't take long to get the first dozen in the box, but the last 3 were another story. We had to move around the pond a bit looking as we caught and released another 15-20 fish that were too small. All the fish in the pond were either 13" or 23" and no in betweens. Finally we got the last 3 in the igloo. Just in time to head to Camposfor fuel and get back to BSM in time to beat the rain!

Another great day on the water with some great people down in Hopedale!

All fish were caught on live and dead shrimp under corks on windward points in 3' of water.

This Fall has shaped up to be one for the books. Fishing is just PLAIN STUPENDOUS! Trout are going absolutely nuts and when the water is up the redfish are crazy too!
