BACK ONLINE!!!!
Hello again everyone….I apologize for the down time, but with new babies and building new houses, it was virtually impossible to post reports. I’ll be keeping you updated from here out on how we are doing.
Back in early March I had the pleasure of fishing with Suzanne Walters from Jackson, MS. She brought her son Preston along with friend Jamie and her son Easton. We fished redfish off of Lake Robin, with low water and windy, cold conditions. It was a stick and move type of day. The girls and kids did a fine job putting together a box of 11 pretty redfish and 6 drum. All fish were caught on dead shrimp under a cork.
I also had the pleasure back in March to fish with Chris Haines of the Mereaux Foundation. He had a couple of buddies in from out of town and wanted to go catch big fish. Perfect time for the Sound! We went out and loaded the box with big reds, heads, and drum! Then let the guys catch and release until they were sick of catching them. Capt. Dane even delivered some yellow fin sashimi appetizers for us to pick on. It was a great day on the water with nonstop action line stripping action!
Mike Clark and his crew also came down on vacation to New Orleans and wanted to fit in a little fishing while here. Same story out in the Sound…..Big Reds, Heads, and Drum. They took an obnoxious pile of meat back home!
Brandon Matherne and his son also squeezed in a little marsh redfish trip before the trout run started. We fished around the Hopedale marsh off of 2 trees and found the redfish frenzied like speckled trout! Cast after cast 15 reds hit the igloo with ease! Then after caught and released for a good 30 minutes!
Fishing was really good this early spring….leading into a summer to remember! The Speckled Trout fishing has been like no other. Limits have been par for the course most days or just short on others. Lately we’ve been on some beautiful trout out in the Sound, Bay Eloi, and Black Bay.
If you’ve ever contemplated booking a charter trip, you can’t go wrong booking right now! Treat yourself to some of the best trout fishing of the calendar year!!! Get on the books ASAP before the Summer’s end!
